Upbringing

Born to an Alexandrian father and a Shaaloanian mother, Slate has spent her entire life under the dome in Solution Nine. She is an only child, and mostly lived with only her mother as company - not to mention her next door neighbor, a nuisance and future love interest.Many will tell you that Slate was ... quiet. Something wasn't right. Only interested in music lessons, she never really made an effort to be friendly with other kids. She probably only befriended her neighbor because her mother was friends with their mother.

A defining accident

No one knows why she did it - not even Rhod, she best friend/lover of ... well, however long. All anyone knows is that a twelve-year old Slate stood atop one of the balconies at the Nexus Arcade, balanced precariously, and then she was falling. She shattered both legs, and as a result, had to have both amputated. She gets around fine enough nowadays, at least. It's not a topic of angst for her, but pointing it out may result in horrific violence a remark or two.

Appearance

Slate can be found in any manner of clothing, just depending on her mood. She keeps her hair at shoulder-length, and highlights her natural blonde with bright teal (or pink!). Her eyes - probably augmented - are an equally bright teal! She almost always wears lip gloss and eyeliner. Sometimes she conceals her prosthetics, and sometimes she doesn't. She's also awfully thin and fairly short for her age.

Multi-professions

A lot of people say that Slate works too much, and it's true! She's a music teacher for all ages full-time, a singer/drummer in a band, and then she's also a hunter part-time. She's too achy to commit to it full-time, so she 'supports' Rhod using her feral soul. Just don't get too close if it's active.

Feral soul

Only Arcadion fighters and hunters get feral souls, and Slate is no exception. She is fairly open about her soul being that of a siren's, but she's less open about the side effects. There's a reason why she stares at people with a hunger, why she's cold inside and out.

Nefarious clubs/hobbies

The various nightclubs and underground venues Slate goes to is, somehow, the least concerning thing about her. He can be found in True Vue's alleyways most nights - sometimes stoic, and sometimes deeply shaken. Sometimes even bloody.

Aether

People with means of seeing aether will notice a few things about Slate - the first being that she's cold. She's ever so slightly ice-aspected, though not enough to grant her any fancy abilities. Her aether is akin to looking down into a frozen lake, but if you squint, you will find deep cracks all through the foundation, stretching up to the surface. What happens when it finally caves in?
